Case Study – Web Design Prices

Web Design Prices and Web Design Pricing

Web design prices vary quite substantially! Prices may range between R500 and R31,000 for a 5 page web site. This makes it very difficult for clients to make a decision because we all know you get what you pay for, so the real question is which price range you should go for to get the best design for your buck.

We did some research and looked at 200 online web design portfolios and compared their pricing vs quality. Quality of each site was measured in terms of the following:

  • Design look and feel
  • Site architecture
  • User friendly navigation
  • Search engine visibility
  • Social media marketing integration
  • Coding standards
  • Page load time
  • Browser compatibility
  • Cell phone compatibility
  • Contact form

Our findings where quite interesting as indicated in figure 1.1. For a 5 page web design any price below R5,000 will be low quality, the quality of design rapidly declines the lower the cost below the 5000 mark. Web design prices above R10,000 for a 5 page web design are all acceptable high quality sites but the quality stays linear, i.o.w you are not going to get a better site for R25,000 than you will for R10,000. So the best safest range to look for when looking at a 5 page web design is between R6,000 and R10,000. Take note that this is for a 5 page static website.

Conclusion

You do get what you pay for but make sure you don’t pay on top of that. There is a thin line between paying too little and paying too much for a web design. So make sure you look within the R6k – 10k range when looking at a 5 page web design.
